About – Introduce yourself to parents. Add background information about yourself and details – such as your specialties and how long you have been a SLP.
Service Type – Should be set to ‘Home Visit’ and/or ‘Office Visit’
Address – If you have an office, add the address here. If you do not, add an address in the middle of your home visit coverage area so that parents know you are nearby.

As soon as a client books an appointment with you, we’ll send you an email confirmation and text message with the details.
Your 1st Appointment
This 45 minute session should be an informal “get to know you” session or screening with the caregiver and child. Discuss future therapy options with parent and agree on a plan for subsequent visits. You can let them know that we offer discounted packages of 5 and 10 sessions, however, they can also book single sessions as well – all options are pay-as-you-go!
Benefits of Booking a Package
Clients will get a recurring appointment time each week and discounted pricing. They can book ongoing appointments by logging into their Speech Buddies account after their first visit.
Wrap-Up
After EACH SESSION, submit a wrap-up form found in the “My Appointments” section of your account – this will be your recommendation for ongoing therapy. This should only take about 30 seconds to fill out, will reinforce what you worked on in that day’s session, and it will indicate to us that it is time to pay you!
Note: You can select multiple blocks of time per day.
Please keep your availability calendar up to date at least 8 weeks in advance. To update your availability:
1) Login to your account
2) Click on the “Change availability” link
3) Select time blocks for when you’re normally available during the week then move on to Step 2.
4) Edit your schedule to accomidate custom days and times (ex: you have a doctor’s appointment, meeting, etc.) If you have an irregular schedule, we suggest skipping Step 1 and moving onto Step 2 where you can edit your availability daily
5) Make sure to click “Save” when you’re finished or none of the changes will be added to your availability.
We process payments for your Speech Buddies appointments two times a month and payments occur automatically. You do not need to submit an invoice to us. You will receive an email in the middle and at the end of each month notifying you that your Speech Buddies invoice is ready. Once you receive this email, no further action is required to get paid. It is as simple as that!
To make sure you are getting credit for every session you perform, it is very important that all appointments are listed accurately in our system and that clients book their appointments and packages online. If they do not, we will not have a record for that appointment and we will not know how much to pay you. While we wish we could make special exceptions for SLPs and their clients, we do not have the capacity to do so. If your clients have any questions about booking appointments we are always happy to assist them over the phone or by email.

Do you accept insurance?
Speech Buddies handles insurance the same way most private speech therapy clinics do. While we do not accept insurance directly, we will help clients understand their coverage and provide a detailed invoice that they can submit to their insurance company for reimbursement.

SLP-initiated cancellations
We request that our SLPs DO NOT CANCEL client appointments directly on our website without contacting them first to reschedule. If you cannot meet at a certain appointment time, we understand. But please call the customer to reschedule the appointment and have them modify to new appointment time in their client account. You can contact us directly if you’re having any trouble with this at all.
If we find that SLPs are frequently cancelling scheduled appointments, we will have a conversation that may result in removal from the Speech Buddies Connect platform.
Client-initiated cancellations
A client may reschedule or cancel an appointment without consequence if it is 24 hours or longer in advance of the appointment start time.
If a client cancels an appointment outright without rescheduling less than 24 hours before the appointment time, the client will get charged the full cost of the appointment.
If, instead, a client reschedules within 8 hours of the appointment time, a $40 fee will be assessed.
Speech Buddies does not become involved in the clinical process of delivering therapy. Therefore, please use the same process you have used in the past for delivering assessments and keeping track of client documentation. We do expect each SLP to keep detailed notes and records of each session.

Maintain proper HIPAA compliance by protecting personally identifiable health information for every client. For written documentation for assessments and treatment, please do not identify clients by name, but rather by first and last initials (example B.J. = Brian Janke), or in the event of duplicates, use the last three letters of a client’s last name followed by two letters of a client’s first name – example: JANBR= Brian Janke. In email correspondence with parents or clients, please use just first names.

You can reschedule your appointments anytime. We ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice to avoid any unnecessary fees or complications. You will not be charged for any of your sessions until the day of that appointment.
Your speech therapist likely gave you a recommended treatment plan in your first session. If not, make your best guess – you can always modify your package later.
